ABOUT US

Metamorfina is an interdisciplinary artistic creation company founded in 2008 at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Autonomous University of Querétaro.

The company uses theatrical experimentation to create a dialogue between its members' disciplines: object theater, dramaturgy, experimental research and creation, musical composition, and multimedia design. It brings to the stage performances that explore a distinctive stage language that challenges viewers to explore their relationship with media images in everyday life.

With more than ten creations in their artistic career, they have performed in venues and festivals in Mexico, Argentina, France, and Canada.

NATALIA GRACIA-MEDRANO

Co-CEO and Artistic Director

Actress and stage writer.

She holds a degree in Performing Arts with a minor in Acting from the Center for the Study of the Use of the Voice, with a Master's in Theater Research and Creation from UQAM in Montreal. She explores dramaturgies that include technology as a creative tool, without losing the actor as the central axis. She completed an internship at the Pantheatre experimental voice and choreographic theater laboratory in Paris and has received several scholarships and awards. She is currently directing Nativos digitales, a project selected by APOYARTE.

MANYA LORÍA

Production Manager

Playwright, actress and director.

A graduate in Performing Arts with a minor in Acting, she was a beneficiary of the PECDA (National Academy of Performing Arts) to study abroad, completing a Master's degree in Dramaturgy at the National University of the Arts in Buenos Aires. She is interested in exploring non-performing spaces and their potential for interaction with the audience. She was a fellow of the Foundation for Mexican Literature in Dramaturgy, and her plays have been performed in Mexico and Argentina. She is currently the director of the improvisation company Los improductivos.

FRANCISCO BAHENA

Co-director general and diffusion of the company.

Actor, puppeteer and stage creator.

A graduate of the Center for Studies on the Use of the Voice, he has developed an interest in object and puppet theater and has participated in various related workshops, also preparing for cabaret, comedy techniques, and dramatic writing. He has also been awarded the FONCA (National Institute of Puppet and Object Theater) prize, as well as the APOYARTE (National Institute of Visual Arts) and PECDA (National Institute of Visual Arts). He currently collaborates with the Núbila Teatro company as a general assistant and puppeteer, and with Los improductivos as an actor and producer.

Rafael Renteria

Composer and Sound Artist

Bachelor of Music.

His work has been presented at music and video festivals in Mexico and abroad, such as the International Cervantino Festival, the International Festival of Electronic Music and Creation, and the Acousma Forum Poland Festival. His musical output has been performed by renowned ensembles and performers. He has been awarded the PECDA Prize twice and was a resident at the UMBRALES Festival.

MEL IZANAMI

Multimedia Designer

He holds a degree in Visual Arts with a minor in Fine Arts, specializing in Animation, and a Master's degree in Electronic Arts. He began his career as a creative artist, showing a specific interest in audiovisual media and the interdisciplinary relationship between art and science. He has won multiple state and national awards and scholarships and has also participated in film festivals and art biennials. He is currently the director of the animation, multimedia, and interactive art studio, Moviendo Monos.

ALEJANDRA DIAZ

Actress and vocal advisor for the company

She holds a degree in Performing Arts with a minor in acting. She completed a Specialized Diploma in Voice from the Center for Studies on Voice Use. She has participated in various productions with the companies Arteatral de la UAQ and Bardo Teatro, where she has worked as an actress and artistic producer.

FONCA scholarship recipient in the Performing Arts Creators Program and the Program for Stimuli for Artistic Creation and Development of the State of Mexico. Selected for the Territories of Art Performing Arts Market. Graduated from the CEUVOZ Diploma in Voice Teacher Training.
